–GraceLi,President,ChinesePhilanthrophyGlobalPartnership HowistheSichuan5.12earthquakearearebuildinggoing Havepeoplemovedintonewhouses,are studentshavingclassesinnew,safeschoolbuildings Howisourdonationbeingusedtohelppeoplein theearthquakeareas Arepeople'slivesgoingbacktonormal Withallthosequestionsinmind,GraceLi,PresidentofChinesePhilanthropyGlobalPartnershipInc., visitedtheSichuanEarthquakeareasinOctober2009.Shevisited5schoolsinDujiangyan都江堰, Mianzhu 绵竹 andZhongjiangCounty中江县locationswhere1+1HearttoHeartprojectandBashu StrengthFoundationsponsoredrecoveryprojects.AtMianzhu,shevisited4newschools‐builtby "sister"citiesfromChina'seastcoast.Eachschoolhasahearttoheartclassroomsponsoredby1+1 project.Thoseclassroomsaredecoratedcolorfulandinviting,equippedwithcomputers,camera,books andgames.1+1HearttoHeartprojectprovidedtrainingforthoseschools–eachschoolhasatrained teacherwithcounselingskillsanddisasterreliefknowledge.Ourdonationhasbeenusedtosponsor trainingsessionsinBeijingUniversityin2008.Nowthoseteachersareorganizingsupportgroup activities,individualcounselingandfamilyassistancetochildrenandyouthintheearthquakearea schools.Mostoftheteachersarewillingtoworklongerhourstohelpstudentsandtheirfamiliesduring offclasstimes. 2schoolsGracevisitedarestillinoldlocations,waitingtomoveintonewbuildings.BuildingsofSichuan TechnologyandBusinessCollegeweredamagedduringtheearthquakeandstudentsaretakingclasses intemporaryclassrooms,administrationofficeshavebeeninportablebuildingsinsertedintothe2nd floorofthedamagedbuilding.Thenewschoolconstruction,sponsoredbycityofShanghai,willbe readytomoveinnextfall. InZhongjiangCounty,thereare160newschoolsunderconstruction;allwithspecialdesignof earthquakeresistantcodes.Gracevisitedoneofthenewschoolsitesinthemountainarea.Better roadsneedbebuiltbeforetheconstructionmaterialscanbedeliveredtothenewsite.Bashu Foundationsponsored2millionCNYforthisschool,50,000CNYhasbeenusedasscholarshipsto165 students.Theschoolprincipleshoweddocumentsandpicturesofthescholarshipprogram.Beneficiaries willreceivescholarshipfor3years. Gracealsovisitedacommunitycenterwhichprovidesgroupsupporttomotherswholostchildren duringtheearthquake.Theprojectwasinitiatedbyavolunteer,apsychologyprofessorinHeBei
